COLOMBO; The region’s top financial services expert, Aruni Goonetilleke, has been appointed to the board of Eswaran Brothers, bolstering a distinguished team to run the business of the company. Eswaran Brothers, a leader in the value-added tea industry for over sixty years, is at the forefront of innovation in the industry.

Eswaran Brothers Board of Directors headed by Non-Executive Chairman and well-known expert in corporate strategy, Dr. Nalin Jayasuriya, boasts of a powerful team which includes Yudhistran Kanagasabai, Independent Non-Executive Director, Committee Chairman auditor of Ceylon Tobacco Société PLC and chairman, Ambeon Capital PLC, Gabriel D’Arcy, independent non-executive director, senior vice-president at Stratagem Partners – a European leader in corporate strategy and Brexit advice and Mr. Hanif Janoo, a well-known global pillar of tea industry from Pakistan and Kenya.

Aruni Goonetilleke, a leading regional financial services expert, who joined the board in June 2021, has recently added to this stellar team. Aruni Goonetilleke, later appointed chairman of Hatton National Bank PLC, is also a director of Sunshine Holdings PLC. In addition, she holds the position of non-executive director in several other listed companies.

Ms. Goonetilleke, who obtained her Bachelor of Laws from the University of Colombo, obtained her Masters of Laws from Harvard Law School, USA. She was previously Head of Corporate Banking at People’s Bank. During her 25 years as a financial services professional, she worked in banks in Sri Lanka and Singapore. She was Chief Risk Officer of Standard Chartered Bank, Sri Lanka and played a key role in the merger of ANZ Grindlays and Standard Chartered Bank in Sri Lanka. She was also responsible for credit, SME and commercial banking and held global audit roles in wholesale and retail banking at Standard Chartered Bank, Singapore.
